This lovely young lady has such a classic face which works especially well for chiaroscuro lighting and this light/dark technique.
Welcome to my Art Blog! I paint or draw most weekdays and sometimes finish a painting a day. I fondly call them my "Postcards from Paradise" because it's such a beautiful place the Lord made here for us.

These portrait pieces just keep getting better and better. Love this one.
Thanks, Ruth. This one is a favorite for me, too.
These figure studies are very beautiful, Diana.
Theses recent charcoal studies are great!
I appreciate you dropping by, Don. Your encouragement means a lot. Happy painting to you!
Wonderful. I adore your charcoal work lately
Thank you, Trine. It has been good to get back to the basics while I sort out thoughts and plans for paintings.
Diana, Your work is breathtaking! I've signed up to follow your blog, and am looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful work. Thanks too for your comment on my painting-- it is much appreciated!
I'm enjoying your work, too, Ann. Thank you for dropping by here. Your encouraging words are much appreciated. "Breathtaking" is good!
Beautiful!! The grain of the paper adds much interest to these and I agree you keep getting better. (LOVE the color figuratives especially.)
Thanks, Diane. I usually prefer a smoother working surface but I've been trying some looser work and the texture helps encourage that, I think.
