Welcome to my Art Blog! I paint or draw most weekdays and sometimes finish a painting a day. I fondly call them my "Postcards from Paradise" because it's such a beautiful place the Lord made here for us.

Free Painting Giveaway Coming Soon!

"Katherine" Portrait

Fired Clay, Life Size

Perhaps you'd like to see one of my clay sculptures? I did this portrait when our oldest child was a baby. She was always a serious girl and this aspect of her young personality revealed itself even in this study I did of her, mostly when she was in her "sassy seat". I don't remember now, but I must've given her something to play with or look at while I modeled the clay. Maybe it was play-doh, which she enjoyed. Or likely it was a book: she has always loved them and grew to be a voracious reader.

Today I varnished some of my daily paintings and worked on another article I'm writing for Art Calendar Magazine. No actual painting done today, but I thought about some new ideas I hope to paint soon.

Keep watching for my free painting giveaway. It's not yet, but it will be soon. And I promise it will be worth the wait. I decided today I'm going to offer a choice of several of my still life paintings on the giveaway day. I hope you'll stay tuned!

Nice...didn't she just get married?

Yes she did, Mary. She's all grown up now and married to a good man with intelligence and wit almost equal to her own. They seem a great match. And she's now a magazine editor for a linguistics magazine which fits her education well (undergrad degrees in French and Journalism, and a Masters in ESL).

Thanks for letting me brag on her a little! Her daddy and I are very proud of her and our other kids too. We see the Lord's lovingkindness in His blessings and care.
