Welcome to my Art Blog! I paint or draw most weekdays and sometimes finish a painting a day. I fondly call them my "Postcards from Paradise" because it's such a beautiful place the Lord made here for us.

I've been working away here in my studio. The poster art is a big project and it's about all I've done for many weeks, except for occasional little warm-ups like this one, and the Challenge.

This tiny study is useful, for it has some of the colors I want for the poster art.

My Newest Article in Professional Artist Magazine

My how-to piece about preparing paintings for art shows is now available in the June issue, just released. The article outlines basic instructions for artists new to exhibiting, including step by step instructions for getting work ready for hanging, what important information to include on the back of paintings, and how to ship.

May Painting Challenge: a Camera

The Challenge this month is courtesy of Suzanne Berry. She named a camera as our subject and I thought, "No problem".

Boy, was I ever surprised how difficult it is to paint a camera! I do like a good challenge, though, to push myself.

And even though my painting is more a serious study of delicate light, I love everyone's playful take on our subject this month. They're all so fun.

I'm the Poster Artist This Year for The Festival in Sandpoint

Well, the cat's out of the bag now. It was announced recently at the Sandpoint Festival Wine Tasting which artist has been chosen to create this year's Festival Poster! Guess who?!

So now the hard work begins. I've already been gathering my references for the idea in my mind. I'll be busy "at the drawing board" and at my easel to plan the composition and then paint the large piece that will be used for the 2011 Festival poster.

Meanwhile, I won't be doing much in the way of small daily paintings for the next few weeks. However, you can find existing choices at my DailyPainters gallery page. Plus, I'm offering free shipping this spring through May 15 on a number of pieces!

Framed Original Oil 12"x9"

I'm pleased to announce that my original oil on hardboard has been accepted to the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition. This year's national show opens June 10 at Devin Galleries in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

You may inquire about purchasing this piece at the gallery's online link . This jewel is one of the most petite in the show, as well as the most reasonably priced.

I am looking forward to seeing who falls in love with this!
